I had the incredible pleasure of photographing the lovely couple Wrenn and Momo during their engagement photo session. What made the experience even more special was that we were able to capture their love in two distinct and breathtaking locations, adding depth and diversity to their photo collection. From the tranquility of a serene white sand beach with coconut trees to a backdrop of the beautiful Koolau mountains & on the ocean side, the Mokoli’i island, also know as Chinamans Hat. Their contrasting surroundings perfectly mirrored the unique dynamics of their relationship.
It was the beginning of a new day when we first met at 6 a.m. at our designated meeting spot. After careful planning, I decided that a two-location photo session lasting at least 90 minutes would be ideal. We allocated an average of 45 minutes for each location, and I made sure that the travel time between the locations was kept to a minimum. In fact, it took us less than 8 minutes to drive from the first location to the second location and start capturing our first shots as soon as we arrived.
The first location offered more of a local Hawaiian beach vibe with its white sandy beach that was lined with coconut trees in the distance. The gentle waves that washed up on the shore were a reflection of their souls with the beautiful golden glow of sunrise.
The second location is a picturesque spot that offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the majestic Koolau mountain range. The vibrant greenery of the park, coupled with the tranquility of its sandy beach, creates a truly refreshing and awe-inspiring environment. Every facet of this amazing park, especially when bathed in the soft light of sunrise, unveils a unique and captivating charm that is truly unforgettable.
If you're coming from the mainland, we can arrange to meet for a photo session at sunrise. After capturing some beautiful shots, you can extend your day by driving a short distance down the road to visit the famous Kualoa Ranch on the scenic windward coast of Oahu. At the ranch, you can explore ATV trails, go biking, experience thrilling ziplines, enjoy horseback riding, and even take a tour of filming locations from the Jurassic Park movies. If you plan to go on the Kualoa tour, it's best to make a reservation and pre-purchase tickets for specific tours or activities.
